If you’ve ever crafted a social post, felt unsure about publishing it, or wished you could reuse it later — Journal’s Drafts feature was built for you.
Here’s how it works (and how it saves you time).
What Are Draft Posts in Journal?
When you're creating content inside Journal — whether it’s using the AI-powered prompts or your own ideas — you can choose to save your work as a draft instead of immediately approving it to the content queue.
This gives you more flexibility:
Want to reuse a great post in the future? Save it as a draft.
Not quite ready to post something yet? Save it as a draft.
Need a bank of evergreen content to pull from? Drafts have you covered.
How to Save a Post as a Draft
When creating a post from a queue topic (e.g. "Benefits of filing your tax return early"), simply click Save as Draft instead of Approve.
Your post — complete with branded design, caption, and formatting — will be stored in the Content Lab under the Drafts section.
💡 Pro Tip: This is perfect for repurposing seasonal or evergreen content. Save once. Reuse forever.
Using Drafts Later: Adding to Your Queue
Let’s say it’s September 11th, and you’re planning posts for the week. You browse your drafts and spot a brilliant caption about Making Tax Digital that you saved months ago.
Here’s how to reuse it:
Go to Content Lab > Drafts
Select the post you want to reuse
Choose the platform (e.g. LinkedIn or Instagram)
Schedule it for the date you want — and hit Schedule
Your draft will now show up in your queue as a custom scheduled post — ready to go.
Limitations to Know
One small quirk: You can’t replace a queue item marked “Awaiting Approval” with a saved draft.
If you've already generated a suggested post from the queue but haven’t approved it yet, that spot will remain pending — even if you schedule a different post from drafts.
It’s a visual thing: you might see a blue “awaiting approval” tag instead of a green “scheduled” tag. It doesn’t affect posting, but if you like a tidy queue, just be aware!
